At this year’s IAAPA Expo in November, Frontgrid will officially launch the Containerised ParadropVR Pod — a new mobile-ready evolution of its proven VR flying platform. Engineered for outdoor, pop-up and event-based environments, the format brings high-fidelity, motion-based VR flight to places traditional attractions can’t reach.

A New Chapter in VR Flying

The Containerised ParadropVR Pod is built around Frontgrid’s compact motion-based Pod — a high-sensation, self-controlled flying platform offering up to 2.6m of motion. It delivers a sophisticated, high-fidelity flying experience, combining precision engineering with immersive content across gamified and story-driven worlds.
Since launching in 2021, the Pod has demonstrated strong global appeal with multiplayer capability, unattended operation, competitive online leagues, and a robust technical architecture supported by remote diagnostics. By integrating this established platform within a shipping-container surround, new for 2025, Frontgrid has created a fully self-contained attraction that enables mobile, seasonal, or permanent outdoor deployment.
As Matt Wells, Chief Executive of Frontgrid, notes:
“This opens up a whole new world of possibilities for VR flying. You can literally drop it anywhere — pardon the pun — and instantly unlock a high-quality attraction without the need for major infrastructure. It gives operators freedom like never before.”
Flexible configurations, modular deployments

Frontgrid has developed the containerised system with versatility and scalability at its core.
Options include configurations of: 20ft HC container(s) with two Pods — a compact configuration ideal for mobile routes, seasonal attractions, or smaller outdoor sites. 40ft HC container(s) with up to four Pods — doubling capacity for high-footfall environments, events or semi-permanent installations. These containers can be seated and transported on a truck for extra mobility.
· Outdoor-ready engineering designed for year-round operation.
· Mobile or fixed installation options — fast to deploy, easy to relocate.
· Optional all-weather operator kiosk, giving staff a protected workspace and the ability to take cash payments.
· Flexible payment systems supporting coin, token, card or unattended modes.
· Robust online operator panel with remote dial-in support and performance monitoring.
· Opportunity to brand and theme the container and the units to compliment the attraction and catch the eye of passersby to draw in increased footfall.
These hardware and operational features allow operators to scale the attraction to their environment while maintaining simplicity, reliability and throughput.

· Theme park or adventure park perimeter zones
· Zoos, aquariums, and visitor attractions with outdoor plazas
· Resorts and holiday parks
· City plazas and promenades
· Pop-up entertainment zones
· Mixed-use developments and retail destinations with outdoor areas

This separation of location categories makes the Containerised Pod easy to position wherever high-impact, flexible outdoor entertainment is needed.
Two Content Paths: Subscription Games or Custom Worlds
Frontgrid’s content strategy enables operators to tailor experiences to audience, commercial model, and brand identity.
1. Subscription Arcade Games
Frontgrid offers a continually updated library of VR flying games, offering:
· Free-roam, gamified flying
· Global online leaderboards
· High repeat-play value
· Low-cost access to content
· A proven business model with installations in 16+ countries
2. Custom Content: Real-World or Imagined Environments
Location based flying – an entertainment category coined by Frontgrid
Guests soar over virtual environments inspired by real-world locations: coastlines, mountains, cityscapes, nature reserves, and scenic landmarks. Perfect for tourism destinations, waterfronts, and observation attractions. Or any venue looking to capitalise on linking its attraction to a real-world destination – with the relevance of the content driving a higher expected ticket price per user. Frontgrid has been shortlisted in 2025 as a finalist for a Brass Ring Award in the Family / Attractions category, for Niagara Virtual, a gamified, self-steer VR experience over Niagara Falls, an accolade it adds to a haul of awards ParadropVR has won since its original inception in 2017.
Imaginary and themed worlds
From mythical landscapes to futuristic realms, custom-built fantasy environments allow for brand storytelling, IP tie-ins, and themed seasonal experiences.
Both content routes use the same motion-controlled platform invented by Frontgrid’s team of paratroopers and adventure specialists, ensuring a consistently authentic flight sensation.
Why This Matters for Operators
The Containerised ParadropVR Pod blends immersive entertainment with operational freedom:
· No building or major infrastructure needed
· Outdoor-ready design with rapid installation
· Portable and re-deployable for flexible commercial strategies
· Scalable: 2-Pod or 4-Pod container options, which can be homed on a truck for additional mobility
· Unattended or staffed operation
· Reliable, robust system with remote support
· A high-sensation attraction that occupies a small footprint
For operators seeking a compelling anchor attraction that can adapt to shifting seasons, new sites or evolving event calendars, this format opens new strategic possibilities.
First Containerised Pod location opens in Poland – and what next?
The first Containerised Pod location opened in July this year in Gdańsk in Poland alongside the Amber Sky Wheel and adjoining outdoor leisure venue and is going strong.
With the launch of the Containerised ParadropVR Pod, Frontgrid is redefining how VR attractions can be delivered — taking high-fidelity flight simulation out of the confines of indoor venues and into the world. As IAAPA approaches, interest is expected to grow from operators seeking a flexible, future-proofed way to offer guests the unforgettable thrill of controlled VR flight.
