Frontgrid has launched ParadropVR Mission – Mountain Ops, a new gamified flying experience designed for the ParadropVR Pod.
Combining physical movement, high-fidelity virtual reality and interactive gameplay, Mountain Ops puts players in control of their own airborne mission as they navigate a dangerous mountainous environment from the sky.
Rather than simply flying through a virtual world, players are given a clear objective: reach a hidden military base while navigating hazards, incoming fire and increasingly contested airspace.

From VR Experience to Playable Mission
Mountain Ops begins with a briefing before players freefall from a transporter aircraft above a mountainous operational environment.
Players take control of their descent, self-steering their route and navigating visual waypoints while staying low and avoiding hazards.
As they approach their objective, the environment becomes increasingly challenging, requiring players to combine navigation, timing and control to complete their mission.
The result is a fast-paced flying experience designed to reward skill and encourage repeat play.
At the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida, two ParadropVR Pods allow visitors to experience Mountain Ops alongside another player, adding a competitive social element as players compare scores and challenge each other to fly again.
A New Approach to ParadropVR Content
Mountain Ops forms part of Frontgrid’s growing ParadropVR subscription game model, giving operators access to new playable experiences without needing to develop a bespoke game for every installation.
Alongside its subscription content, Frontgrid continues to create custom ParadropVR experiences built around individual locations, destinations, brands and stories.
This means operators can choose between ready-to-play content such as Mountain Ops or work with Frontgrid to develop an experience specifically designed around their venue.

The National Naval Aviation Museum provides the first venue for Mountain Ops, creating a natural setting for an experience centred around airborne operations.
The museum’s installation features two ParadropVR Pods, positioned alongside its aviation exhibits and existing simulation experiences.
Since opening in July, the experience has received a strong reception, with visitors returning to fly the mission again and improve their performance.
Rear Admiral Kyle Cozad, USN (Ret.), President and CEO of the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, said:
“The Paradrop VR experience gives our visitors the chance to feel the adrenaline, anticipation, and excitement of a simulated parachute jump in a safe and immersive environment.”

Designed for Attractions
Mountain Ops demonstrates how motion-based engineering, immersive content and game design can work together to turn visitors from passive spectators into active participants.
Frontgrid currently has ParadropVR installations in 18 countries, including three military museums, with the National Infantry Museum in the USA and RAF Museum in the UK featuring unique, location-specific content.
For operators, the combination of subscription games and bespoke content provides flexibility to create experiences that are relevant to their audience, venue and wider attraction.
“The opportunity is to give attractions something that people cannot experience anywhere else in quite the same way. Whether that comes from a new game like Mountain Ops or a story created specifically for a particular destination, we are giving operators another tool to make their experience more distinctive and memorable.”
Matt Wells, CEO, Frontgrid.
