The installation marks our third location with Sparkx and our first ParadropVR site in Holland. It also reflects the continued growth of sportainment venues across Europe, where operators are combining physical activity, digital play, simulated environments and competitive social experiences under one roof.
The new Sparkx venue will feature around fifty sport-related activities, bringing together physical challenges and immersive formats for families, groups, schools and corporate visitors. ParadropVR will add a motion-based flying experience to the attraction mix, allowing players to steer under a canopy through a VR environment using our dedicated pod system.

Supporting High-Energy Sportainment Venues
For Frontgrid, the third Sparkx installation is an important milestone. It shows how ParadropVR can operate successfully across multiple high-footfall, multi-activity venues, while providing a high-throughput and repeatable attraction for operators.
Sparkx has created a strong sportainment model, where physical play and immersive technology sit naturally alongside each other. ParadropVR fits this environment by giving guests an active, competitive and easy-to-understand experience that can be repeated across different game titles.
Our system is designed to support reliable daily operation, quick guest onboarding and strong replay value. These factors are important for sportainment operators managing broad audiences and busy venue schedules.
Matt Wells, CEO of Frontgrid, said: “The National Naval Aviation Museum is an incredible setting for this kind of experience.
“ParadropVR complements their existing simulators and exhibits by adding a new, interactive element that is both accessible and engaging. It gives people an exhilarating experience, whilst being approachable for all the family – and gives the sense of being on a mission in a way a static exhibit simply can’t.”
Wells is a former paratrooper in the British Army and said that it was rewarding to bring an airborne-themed experience in a venue dedicated to aviation history in a way that feels authentic and respectful.
New Volcano Island Game To Debut In Utrecht
Alongside the Utrecht installation, we will introduce a new ParadropVR game title, Volcano Island. The title will debut at the new Sparkx location and will become part of our growing content library.
Volcano Island gives players the chance to fly above and through a dramatic island environment, travelling past volcanic terrain, mountain tunnels, waterfalls and lava. Players use their flying skills to steer towards targets in the sea, then restart and attempt to improve their score.
The title has been developed with replayability and competitive performance in mind. For operators, this is a key part of ParadropVR’s value. Score-based gameplay encourages repeat use, supports group competition and can increase dwell time within venues where guests are choosing between multiple activities.
Frontgrid has now installed ParadropVR attractions across 16 countries and the Pensacola-based museum is the third military museum to feature it.

Motion-Based VR With Free-Roam Steering
ParadropVR combines motion-based hardware with immersive content to create a high-fidelity flying experience. The ParadropVR Pod gives players physical feedback while they control their route through the virtual world.
The free-roam steering system adds a greater sense of player control compared with many VR attractions, giving each flight a personal performance element. This balance of intuitive movement, physical sensation and competitive scoring makes the experience well-suited to sportainment venues, where guests expect activity, challenge and visible progression.
A Major New Sparkx Venue For Europe
The Utrecht site will be Sparkx’s first venue outside Belgium. Located in Nieuwegein, near Utrecht, it will be developed within the Beursfabriek events venue and will cover approximately 7,500 square metres, making it the largest Sparkx location to date.
For Frontgrid, this expansion reinforces ParadropVR’s role within larger multi-activity environments. As sportainment continues to grow in Europe, we see strong potential for attractions that combine physical movement, immersive technology and repeatable gameplay.
